GENERAL INQUIRIES

How far in advance do I need to make a booking?

In order to maintain the quality of service, it is recommended that you make arrangements in advance when confirming the moving date. If you make a booking in advance, you will have a better chance of locking in your move on the correct date and time.

What happens if it rains on the moving day?

Do not worry! Our trucks are perfectly sealed, and we do have safety measures in place for rainy situations. Your furniture will be wrapped in plastic to ensure the rain does not damage it. Certain things that can also help is clearing of walkways and blankets to cover the entrance points. If it is pouring down heavily you have the option to stop the job and wait the rain out or we could always finish the move another day.

How long does the move take?

There is no way to 100% estimate a job. Factors to consider include traffic conditions, packing of items, the distance between the vehicle and the house, the situation of stairs, etc. Australian moving companies basically charge an hour for small and medium-sized moves. Most of us will not come to the door to quote, which requires us to clarify more information during telephone communication. This will help us make a more accurate estimate of your move. For large-scale transportation, we usually make an on-site inspection to make an estimate. If you want to save money, it is recommended to pack and store loose items in advance and disassemble necessary items. This will allow our workers to complete the job in a fast and safe manner.

The mattress is new, will it get dirty during transportation? Do sheets and bedspreads need to be removed first?

we have mattress protectors and covers to ensure the mattress does not get any stains during the move.

Do you provide furniture removal and installation services? My wardrobe is relatively large and may need to be disassembled.

Our team of professionals will disassemble and reassemble any furniture you require of us.

My furniture is expensive and large, how can I protect it?

We have certain safety measures in place to prevent expensive large items from being damaged during the move. You are more than welcome to call us in advance, and we will let you know exactly what you will need to ensure it is safely transported. Standard protections that every truck has is thick blankets and shrink wrap to ensure it won’t get scuffed during the move.

Could you dispose of any unwanted furniture during the move?

We do provide services that will help you get rid of unwanted furniture, and we also provide rubbish removals

What if the item gets damaged? Is iMover insured?

In the case of an accident iMover is backed with public liability, transit, vehicle insurance and Work Safe. So you can rest easy knowing that iMover is fully insured.

I've had bad moving experiences before. The workers are procrastinating, have a bad attitude, and are very unprofessional. How do I go about choosing the right moving company?

It is undeniable that many small companies in Australia operate without a license. The practitioners have a mentality of making quick money and have no professionalism or credibility at all. Most of these companies will try and cut costs from wherever they can and most of the workers employed are inexperienced. Problems that may arise from using such companies may include the following:

  • Arriving late and being unapologetic’ is very common.
  • Hidden additional fees are charged now of transportation, such as upstairs fees, heavy object fees, etc.
  • Deliberately delaying time, resulting in higher fees
  • Item damage refused claim (due to no insurance, claim is very difficult)

Therefore, when choosing a moving company, do not simply compare the hourly rate. It is recommended that you comprehensively consider the following points:

  • Recommended by friends and family by word of mouth
  • Social media content evaluation
  • Company website and promotional video
  • The professionalism of the appraiser
  • Recommended by friends, family or by word of mouth

Certain things that you as the customer could do to help the workers out on the day of the move are:

  • Make sure all small items are well packed in boxes
  • Insure that the walk way is clear
  • Disassemble beds if you can
  • Make sure that the fridges are empty and ready to move
